STATEMENT

Loren Santiesteban is a multidisciplinary artist and metalsmith who is known for her topical depth and meticulousness. Her work features the complicated balance between human nature and animal nature using strokes that depict the common energy shared by both.  Beneath the detail and color of the artist works is a code of language that shows the intensity and purity of the character traits shared both by humans and animals. These character traits such as loyalty, fear, distrust, and instability are sometimes separately shown and other times intertwined in a thought-provoking symmetry that causes you to question your emotions.  Humans often battle with their own animalistic reactions using their passive aggressive social politics as a moral compass. These works are a portrayal of how the artist struggles creatively with the spiritual treatment of the earth and it's living creatures, and shows the conflicted relationship between how she connects with nature versus humans.
